Mountain Blue Processing Facility flood protection

Mountain Blue Processing Facility

Lismore, NSW, Australia

The Challenge

On February 28, 2022, Lismore, NSW, Australia, experienced the highest flood in its recorded history. Floodwaters surged to an unprecedented 14.4 meters (47 feet), overwhelming buildings, infrastructure, and local businesses.

For Mountain Blue, a Lismore-based processing facility, the risk was clear: critical machinery and operations were vulnerable to severe flood damage, threatening long-term business continuity if another major event occurred.

The Recommendations

Mountain Blue partnered with Flood Risk America to proactively strengthen its flood resilience. After assessing the facility's layout and flood exposure, Flood Risk America recommended the installation of a custom flood protection barrier within the processing area.

The solution was a large-scale flood panel system, designed to provide a reliable line of defense around essential equipment. This would help to prevent water intrusion and reduce the risk of costly damage during future flood events.

The Result

With the flood protection barrier system installed, Mountain Blue is now better prepared for future flooding. Their critical machinery is safeguarded, operational risk has been significantly reduced, and the facility has an added layer of protection to support business continuity in a high-risk flood zone.

This proactive investment helps ensure Mountain Blue can recover faster, minimize downtime, and operate with greater confidence as extreme weather events continue to increase.
