Stephen Gill
Founder / Managing Partner
A Hurricane Katrina Recovery Team veteran with over 20 years in flood risk analysis, Stephen founded Flood Risk America to bring innovation, reliability, and confidence to flood protection — so property owners can breathe a little easier.
From Katrina to Creating Flood Risk America
I was on the front lines as part of the Hurricane Katrina Recovery Team, and what I witnessed there changed everything for me. The human suffering, the economic devastation, the sheer scale of what flooding can do to a community — it was overwhelming. I remember a moment in the middle of the chaos where I felt nature just go still, and in that stillness, I knew I had to dedicate myself to making sure fewer people ever had to experience what I saw. That moment was the seed of everything Flood Risk America became.
Flood Risk Analysis is my foundation. I've spent over 20 years in it. My core focus is flood zone preparedness, flood disaster management, and working directly with property owners to help them secure better flood coverage, lower their deductibles, and improve their sub-limits. I want every client to walk away better protected than when they found us.
After two decades in this space, the problems were hard to ignore. Products that were supposed to protect people were ending up as scrap metal, or weren't being deployed when a named storm actually hit because they were simply too heavy. On top of that, there was almost no attention being paid to architectural aesthetics — flood protection looked like an afterthought. I knew there had to be a better way, and that's ultimately what led to the development of the lightweight FRA Flood Panel.
Our resilience is what I'm most proud of. The flood protection landscape is constantly shifting — regulations, climate patterns, client needs — and we've managed to stay ahead of it. But honestly, what I'm most proud of is the team we've built. They are the reason we're able to do what we do at the level we do it.
We're not done innovating. My goal is to continue pushing into new products and developments that take flood protection to an entirely new level. The threats are evolving, and so are we. I want Flood Risk America to be the name people think of when they think about what's possible in this industry.
